Description

A pair of German glazed porcelain figurines depicting an 18th-century courtly couple in the Rococo Revival style. The female figure is modeled in a grand polonaise-style gown featuring layered ruffles and applied lace-work. Both figures are set upon integral Rococo-style scrollwork bases accented with hand-painted gilding. The decorative palette is characterized by a mottled blue and white flow blue style glaze on the primary garments, with purple highlights on the cuffs and breeches. The underside of the female figure bears a handwritten blue mark 5084A and the number 30 within a circle, alongside an incised number 5084. The underside of the male figure bears a handwritten black mark 5082 with 65 below it, and a handwritten cursive mark reading Germany.Male: 11.75 inchesFemale: 11 inches.

Condition report:

The figurines are in good overall condition. There is minor expected wear to the gilt accents, primarily on the raised edges of the scrollwork bases. No major breaks or professional repairs are visible. The delicate applied porcelain lace and ruffles show no prominent missing sections, though minute nicks consistent with age and material may be present upon close inspection. Adhesive sticker residue is present on the underside and side of the male figure base.
