Description

A 1972 US Mint uncirculated coin set consisting of eleven coins and one official Bureau of the Mint token. The set is housed in two original plastic cellophane strips as issued by the Department of the Treasury. The red-bordered strip contains five coins from the Denver Mint, including the Lincoln cent, Jefferson nickel, Roosevelt dime, Washington quarter, and Kennedy half dollar, all bearing the D mint mark, alongside a white plastic Bureau of the Mint token. The blue-bordered strip contains six coins from the Philadelphia Mint, including two Lincoln cents, a Jefferson nickel, Roosevelt dime, Washington quarter, and Kennedy half dollar, all produced without mint marks. The collection is accompanied by its original white mailing envelope from the US Assay Office, Numismatic Service, New York, stamped 1972-U.C. in the lower-left corner. This set was the second annual uncirculated set to contain only base-metal coinage following the removal of silver from the half dollar in 1971.

Condition report:

The coins are in uncirculated condition, displaying original mint luster and sharp strike details. Natural copper toning is present on the Lincoln cents. The original cellophane packaging is intact and the mailing envelope shows minor wear consistent with age and storage.
