Description
This lot consists of two oak furniture items. The first piece is an armless rocking chair, commonly referred to as a sewing or nursing rocker. The design features a backrest with a row of six turned spindles above a rectangular cane insert. The seat also contains a woven cane panel. The chair frame includes turned front legs and three sets of side stretchers, all mounted on steam-bent wooden rockers. The second piece is a traditional pedestal side table or candle stand. It features a circular tabletop with a rounded edge and prominent radial grain. The top is supported by a single turned pedestal post that terminates in a tripod base with three out-swept cabriole legs. Neither item bears visible manufacturer marks, stamps, or labels.
Rocking chair height: 35.5 inches
Pedestal table height: 31.5 inches.
Condition report:
The rocking chair is in good, stable condition. Both the seat and backrest cane panels are intact without visible breaks or sagging. The wood finish shows minor surface wear, scuffing, and thinning, particularly on the rockers and high-touch areas, consistent with age and use. The pedestal table is in excellent condition with a well-preserved finish and minimal signs of wear.
