Description
This redware plate was produced by C. Ned Foltz at Foltz Pottery in Reinholds, Pennsylvania. The circular earthenware dish features a cabled or notched rim and a glossy dark brown manganese-colored glaze. The interior is decorated with a relief-molded central beehive or skep flanked by stylized flowers highlighted with yellow and green slip. Four small bees are depicted in flight above the hive. The unglazed reverse displays the natural red clay body and includes the incised signature C. Foltz along with an impressed circular stamp that reads FOLTZ POTTERY REINHOLDS, PA and contains a stylized bird motif. The year 1986 is incised at the base.

Condition report:
The piece is in excellent original condition. There are no chips, cracks, hairlines, or evidence of restoration. The glaze is bright and lustrous. The underside shows minor white scuffs consistent with shelf wear.
