Description
A group of four decorative hand-painted earthenware dishes and bowls with various seasonal motifs. The group includes two items produced by the Robinson-Ransbottom Pottery Co. of Roseville, Ohio. The first is a dish approximately 5 inches in diameter featuring a dark brown glaze with a hand-painted Santa Claus figure in a red suit with yellow trim. The second is a dish approximately 3.5 inches in diameter with a dark brown glaze and a hand-painted snowman. Both Robinson-Ransbottom pieces have unglazed red clay exteriors and impressed marks reading OXFORD EARTHEN WARE around a central letter R; the smaller snowman dish includes an impressed LEAD FREE circular mark. A large bowl approximately 5.5 inches in diameter is included, featuring a purple glazed interior with a hand-painted white rabbit and Easter basket. The base of this bowl is incised Earthen Vessel, Cinti. Oh 1992, of CPD SLW MCS, 035, identifying it as a piece from Earthen Vessel in Cincinnati, Ohio. The fourth item is a bowl approximately 5.5 inches in diameter with a cream-colored speckled glaze and a hand-painted snowman face. This bowl features a brown-glazed rim and base and retains a paper label from Penn Woods Pottery.

Condition report:
The collection is in good overall condition with no visible chips, cracks, or repairs. There is minor surface shelf wear to the unglazed clay bases. The paper label on the Penn Woods Pottery bowl shows light staining and handwritten notations.
