Description
This lot features two United States Eisenhower dollar coins with an aftermarket gold-plated finish, originally distributed by Sun Bank. The first coin is dated 1972 and features the standard eagle-on-the-moon reverse design. The second coin is a 1776-1976 Bicentennial issue featuring the Liberty Bell and moon reverse. Both coins depict the profile of Dwight D. Eisenhower on the obverse. The coins are housed in individual square plastic capsules with black inserts labeled SUN BANK DOLLAR and SUN BANK BICENTENNIAL DOLLAR in gold-tone lettering. There are no hallmarkings for gold purity or weight present on the coins or packaging, indicating the items are gold-plated versions of standard-issue currency. No mint marks are distinguishable.
