Description
This set of 25 decorative thimbles, titled Thimbles of the Worlds Greatest Porcelain Houses, was produced by the Franklin Mint as a curated collection representing prestigious international ceramic manufacturers. The collection includes thimbles from makers such as Haviland, Lladro, Adams, Bernardaud (B & Co France), Royal Worcester, Franciscan, Wedgwood, Spode, Royal Tara, Coalport, Mosa, Noritake, Hammersley, Royal Albert, Royal Doulton, and Royal Copenhagen. The materials used across the set include hard-paste porcelain, bone china, ironstone, and Jasperware-style stoneware. Each thimble exhibits specific house styles and decorative techniques, including polychrome transfer prints, hand-painted accents, raised relief work, and gold gilding along the rims. Decorative motifs range from botanical and floral sprays to heraldic crests, landscapes, and neoclassical silhouettes. The set is housed in its original blue fabric-covered presentation box with gold-toned lettering and is accompanied by a series of individual light blue identification cards for the participating porcelain houses.
Condition report:
All 25 thimbles are in excellent condition, showing no visible chips, cracks, crazing, or repairs. The gold gilding appears bright and intact across the collection. The blue presentation box is structurally sound with minor surface dust and light shelf wear consistent with age. The accompanying identification cards are in good, clean condition.
