Description

A pair of porcelain footed bowls titled The Game Bird Bowl, produced by Franklin Porcelain in 1981. Each bowl features a detailed, wrap-around illustration of game birds in a naturalistic landscape of tall grasses and wildflowers. The scenes specifically depict male and female black grouse, with the males identifiable by their lyre-shaped tail feathers and red combs. The rims and foot rings are decorated with a thin band of gold gilding. The base of each bowl is marked with a green backstamp containing the Franklin Porcelain logo, the title of the work, a facsimile signature of wildlife artist Basil Ede, and the 1981 copyright date.
