Lot 29:
Description
An industrial folk art sculpture depicting a seated fisherman, constructed from various welded scrap metal components. The figure’s body and limbs are formed from square-section metal bars, while a rounded metal slug serves as the head. The fisherman holds a rod composed of a thin metal rod fitted with washers and a nut to represent the guides and reel. The entire work is finished in a thick, glossy black enamel or paint and is mounted to an integral, square-shaped textured metal base. The construction features visible weld points consistent with the assembly of found metal objects. No signatures, maker’s marks, or labels are present on the sculpture.
4.5 x 3.5 x 4 inches.
Condition report:
The sculpture is in good condition with minor surface wear consistent with age and material. There is small-scale paint loss and chipping along the sharp edges of the base and on the figure\'s extremities, such as the head and feet, revealing the underlying metal. Light dust accumulation is visible in the recessed textures of the base. The structural welds remain secure.
