Description
This hand-carved and painted wooden fish sculpture, representing a Northern Pike, was created by John Jeffery Barts in 1992. The piece features a streamlined, torpedo-shaped body with a dark greenish-gray mottled finish on the upper half, transitioning to a light-toned natural wood grain belly. Detail work includes inset dark eyes and a carved slit mouth. A length of natural fiber twine is tied around the base of the tail and threaded through the mouth. The underside of the belly is inscribed in black ink with the text: Northern Pike John Jeffery Barts 1992. The sculpture is carved from a single block of wood.

Condition report:
The sculpture is in good original condition. The painted surface and wood grain are well-preserved with no visible cracks, chips, or significant wear. Minor surface dust and natural wood irregularities are present. The inset eyes and natural fiber twine are intact.
