Description
A contemporary mixed media work featuring a three-dimensional paper tole or decoupage construction. The central subject is a botanical study of a pink Phalaenopsis orchid with multiple blossoms and two broad green leaves, set within a blue and white chinoiserie-style ceramic pot. The composition is created from layered, cut-paper elements to achieve a relief effect on a cream paper support. To the left of the orchid stem, the text YEAR AFTER YEAR… is printed in a black sans-serif typeface. The work is professionally housed behind glass within a navy blue fabric-textured mat with a black inner fillet, all enclosed in a wide, beveled gold-gilded wooden frame. No artist signature, maker mark, or date is visible on the face of the work.
Condition report:
The work appears to be in excellent condition (Photo 1). The three-dimensional paper elements are well-preserved and firmly attached. The pigments remain bright and show no signs of fading. The fabric mat is clean and free of staining or debris. The gilded frame is structurally sound with no visible chips, losses, or cracks to the finish.
