Description
A Belgian-made machine-woven rug from the Sears Kismet Classic collection. The rug is constructed with a 100% virgin worsted wool pile on a backing of 100% cotton warp and 100% jute weft, produced on Jacquard looms. The design features a traditional Red Sarouk pattern with dense floral sprays across a vibrant red field, enclosed by a wide navy floral border and multiple cream and gold guard borders. The ends are finished with a cream-colored knotted fringe. A large rectangular label is adhered to the reverse side, featuring a black Sears logo and a Sears Best sunburst logo. Legible text on the label includes KISMET CLASSIC, from Sears International Collection of Fine Rugs, Made in Belgium, and technical specifications regarding fiber content and weight. A specific section on the label identifies the pattern as Red Sarouk with stock number 57 5139.

Condition report:
The rug is in good overall condition. The wool pile appears thick and well-maintained across the entire surface (photo 1). The side serging is intact with no visible unraveling. The end fringes are complete but show minor tangling and light soiling consistent with residential use (photo 2). The manufacturer label on the reverse is heavily stained, yellowed, and peeling at the edges, though the primary text remains readable (photo 3).
