Lot 180:
Description
A collection of silver-plated metalware consisting of various functional and decorative tabletop items. The group includes a large water pitcher with a tapered body, stepped circular base, and an angular geometric handle. A circular two-handled serving dish features a domed lid with an engraved Gothic-style monogram of the character L. Another circular serving dish has a radiating-rib design on its lid, a black composition knob, and sits on a matching underplate with a foliate border. The set also includes a matching pedestal sugar bowl and creamer, both with high shoulders. A small cup is finished with a gold-tone interior wash and a simple C-shaped handle. Also present is a table bell with a handle cast in the form of a standing figure, and a two-tine carving fork with a dark handle and an integrated folding guard. The exterior surfaces of several pieces, particularly the pitcher and the monogrammed dish, exhibit heavy blue and purple iridescent tarnish. No manufacturer marks or hallmarks are visible on the pieces.
Condition report:
Heavy iridescent tarnish and oxidation are present across the pitcher, front serving dish, creamer, and sugar bowl (photos 1, 2). The polished lidded dish shows light surface scratching and minor scuffs from handling. The small cup exhibits wear to the interior gilt wash (photo 2). All items show general light surface wear and patina consistent with age and domestic use.
