Description

A trio of carved oak furniture or architectural ornaments in the Renaissance Revival style, featuring a dark brown stained finish. The set consists of one large symmetrical central crest and a matching pair of terminal ornaments. The central piece is composed of deep-relief C-scrolls flanking a central raised panel, topped with a stylized fleur-de-lis finial and terminating in acanthus leaf motifs. The two side ornaments each feature a carved lion mask at the top, transitioning into a stylized torso that tapers into a base of overlapping acanthus leaves. The reverse of each piece is flat and unfinished, showing recessed mounting points and circular impressions from previous attachment to a larger structure. No maker marks, labels, or signatures are present on any of the three components.

Central piece measures approximately 14.5 inches in height.
Side pieces each measure approximately 11.5 inches in height.

Condition report:

The set shows wear consistent with age and salvaged use. The central crest has minor chipping and small losses to the wood at the pointed tips and sharp edges of the scrolls (photo 1). The two side ornaments show softening to the carved details of the lion faces and light splintering at the bottom leaf tips (photo 1). Surface dust and light scratches are visible throughout the finish on all pieces. The unfinished reverse surfaces show typical mounting holes, minor wood loss around fasteners, and surface grime (photo 3).
