Description
A vintage clear glass apothecary or chemist’s storage jar featuring a square footprint, rounded shoulders, and a wide mouth. The jar is equipped with a matching flat-topped disc style glass stopper with a ground glass plug designed for an airtight fit. Centered on the front is a recessed underglass label. The label is comprised of a white field decorated with stylized ray lines and a gold-toned border featuring a thin red interior pinstripe. The label is printed with the text MAGN. CARB. in black capital letters, representing the chemical Magnesii Carbonas (Magnesium Carbonate). No maker’s marks, country of origin marks, or signatures are visible on the glass or the label. May or may not have chips or cracks.

Condition report:
The jar and stopper are in excellent vintage condition. The glass body and stopper show no visible chips, cracks, or significant surface scratches (photos 1, 3, 4). The ground glass neck and stopper plug are intact without damage. The underglass label is well-preserved with clear, legible text, though it exhibits minor age-related darkening and discoloration along the outer edges where the original adhesive has oxidized over time (photo 1).
