Description
This pair of American clear glass pharmaceutical storage bottles includes two distinct sizes, both retaining their original ground glass stoppers. The larger bottle has a rectangular form with a recessed panel on the front face. An applied paper label with a decorative green and gold border is present, featuring the black text POT.CHLOR. An embossed mark on the base of the larger bottle reads W . T . & CO . above the characters U . S . A . The smaller bottle is square with rounded shoulders and features gilt decoration. A gold-painted arched border frames the name BORINE on the front. Additional gilt bands are applied to the rim of the neck and the circumference of the stopper. Both vessels are fitted with their original ground glass stoppers. May or may not have cracks or chips.
Large bottle: 7 inches (17.8 cm) high, 2.25 inches (5.7 cm) wide.
Small bottle: 3.5 inches (8.9 cm) high, 2 inches (5.1 cm) wide.
Condition report:
The interior of the larger bottle shows significant white residue and cloudiness (photo 1, 2). Its paper label is discolored and exhibits wear and lifting at the corners (photo 1). The smaller bottle has minor surface scratches and wear to the gilt lettering and borders (photo 1, 3). Both stoppers are intact and fit their respective bottles.
