Description
A rectangular woven splint utility basket constructed from wide wood splints, likely ash or oak. The basket features an over-under weave forming a flared body with rounded corners and a flat base. The top rim is reinforced with double-wrapped splints secured by small oxidized metal nails. A single fixed bentwood handle is integrated into the side walls and extends over the center. The wood exhibits a dark, aged patina consistent with an early to mid-20th-century American origin. No maker’s marks, stamps, or labels are visible on the interior or exterior surfaces.Very good condition.

Length: 15 inches across the top rim
Height (body): 9.5 inches from base to rim
Height (overall): 14 inches from base to top of handle.
Condition report:
Fair to good condition consistent with age and heavy utility use. There are scattered broken and frayed splints particularly located at the corners and along the base. The handle shows minor scuffing and splintering. Oxidation is present on all metal fasteners. The weave contains an accumulation of dust and surface debris.
