Description
An assortment of three woven baskets featuring diverse materials and construction styles. The first is a rustic, round basket crafted from dark brown stained wood and split reed. It includes a high arched handle wrapped in contrasting lighter fiber lashings. The body features a layered weave with a reinforced cross-pattern base. The second item is a cylindrical two-tone basket with a thick vertical weave. The exterior is split vertically between a natural tan finish and a white-washed finish. It is equipped with two black, smooth-textured arched handles at the rim. The third item is a rectangular storage bin constructed from dark brown woven water hyacinth or seagrass in a checkerboard pattern. The interior is fully lined with black fabric, and the sides feature two dark brown faux-leather handles secured with metal rivets. No maker marks, labels, or signatures are visible on any of the items. Large size. Very good condition.
The handled basket measures approximately 19 inches in total height to the top of the handle and 8 inches in height to the rim.
The two-tone basket measures approximately 13.5 inches in total height to the top of the handles and 10 inches in height to the rim.
The rectangular bin measures approximately 17 inches wide across the top opening.
Condition report:
The handled basket shows surface wear and scuffing to the finish on the handle and occasional frayed fibers in the woven body (photo 4). The two-tone basket is in very good condition with minor surface soiling visible on the white-washed section (photo 3). The rectangular bin shows minor fraying at the corners and some lint on the interior black fabric lining (photo 2).
