Description
An assortment of vintage evening bags featuring various beaded and metal mesh construction techniques. The collection includes a shell-shaped clutch decorated with silver-tone seed beads arranged in radial scalloped rows, fitted with a silver-tone metal frame and a spherical kiss-lock closure. Also present is a cream-colored beaded pouch featuring a central motif of a budding branch, set into an ornate brass-tone metal frame with a chain link handle. A third item is a fringed metal mesh bag with a geometric pattern in gold and silver tones, featuring a chased bronze-tone metal frame and a chain handle. The fourth piece is a large rounded shoulder bag with intricate multicolored beadwork depicting scrolls, paisleys, and heart shapes in deep red, navy blue, and metallic tones, finished with a gold-tone snake chain handle. No maker marks, labels, or country of origin stamps are visible on the frames or surfaces of these items. Two are vintage and 2 are made in China.
Condition report:
The collection shows varying states of preservation. The shell-shaped clutch and the cream-colored pouch appear in good vintage condition with intact beadwork and minor surface wear to the metal frames (photo 1). The multicolored beaded shoulder bag shows no visible bead loss in the provided images (photo 1). The fringed metal mesh bag has significant structural damage, with the mesh and interior lining detached and frayed at the upper right corner where the body meets the frame (photo 1).
