Description
A set of three glazed porcelain vessels consisting of two large ovoid fishbowls/flower pots and one hexagonal flower pot. One large fishbow/flower pot features underglaze blue hand-painted decoration with a repetitive scrolling foliate pattern, likely stylized lingzhi fungus, and a wide flat rim decorated with a geometric and floral border. The second large flower pot is decorated with overglaze enamels in a polychrome palette, featuring large pink peonies and blue blossoms with green leaves, a blue border with green scrolling vines at the shoulder, and a Greek key border on the rim. The hexagonal flower pot is decorated with underglaze blue panels depicting peony blossoms and scrolling foliate vines beneath a flared, scalloped rim. No maker marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the exterior or interior surfaces of any item.
Large fishbowls/flower pot: approximately 10.5 inches in height (measured from the base to the rim)
Hexagonal flower pot: approximately 5 inches in height (calculated from the rim height of the larger bowls).
Condition report:
The blue and white fishbowl is in excellent condition with no visible chips or cracks to the exterior; the interior shows minor signs of use (Photo 1). The polychrome fishbowl is in very good condition with vibrant enamels and minor surface rubbing (Photo 1). The hexagonal flower pot is in good condition; there is visible brownish staining and discoloration to the interior base and lower walls consistent with previous use for potting plants (Photo 1).
