Description
A large bulbous garden planter and a circular thermometer plaque, both crafted from reddish-orange terracotta. The planter features a thick, rolled rim and is decorated with heavy, hand-applied relief swags consisting of floral bosses and pendant pinecone or tassel elements. A repeating band of impressed geometric diamond and triangle patterns circulates the lower portion of the body. The interior displays a textured, unglazed surface. The matching circular thermometer plaque features a relief-molded dial with raised numerals ranging from -10 to 110. The central field depicts a scene of two hunting dogs in a wooded landscape, with a third dog appearing in relief at the bottom of the dial. It retains a dark metal indicator needle and is shown resting on a wooden display stand. No maker marks, signatures, or factory stamps are visible on either piece.

Thermometer: 13 inches in diameter.
Condition report:
The planter shows evidence of outdoor use, including white mineral efflorescence and surface deposits on the interior and lower exterior (photo 1). There are scattered small chips and abrasions to the high points of the applied relief swags and pendants (photo 2). The foot rim exhibits several chips and rough edges (photo 3). The thermometer plaque shows minor surface wear and small nicks to the outer edge (photo 2). The metal indicator needle displays significant paint loss and light surface oxidation (photo 2).
