Lot 153:
Description
A vintage open-face pocket watch manufactured by Waltham. The watch features a white porcelain enamel dial with bold black Arabic numeral hour markers and a red outer minute track marked in five-minute intervals. A sunken sub-seconds dial is positioned at the 6 o’clock mark. The dial is fitted with blued steel hands, including a spade-style hour hand. The dial is signed WALTHAM below the 12 o’clock position. The watch is housed in a plain, silver-tone base metal case, likely nickel-silver or silverode, with a knurled crown and a circular bow. The mechanical movement is a manual wind type.
Transcription of Marks: The dial is printed WALTHAM in black. The sub-dial is marked 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60 in black. The outer minute track is marked 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60 in red.
Case size: 16s.
Condition report:
The watch is in fair to poor aesthetic condition. The dial shows multiple prominent hairline cracks and crazing, particularly concentrated around the 7, 8, and 10 o\'clock markers. The case exhibits heavy scratching, surface pitting, and oxidation, with significant plating wear on the crown exposing the base brass metal. The crystal is present but shows heavy surface scratching. The mechanical working order has not been tested and is unknown.
