Description
This vintage hand-carved wooden ice spearing decoy features a tapered, cylindrical body and a vertical flat tail. The exterior is finished with a mottled grey and black painted design accented by yellow circular spots. The head is painted in a dark tone with a yellow circular eye, and the tail displays linear yellow accents. Two rounded metal pectoral fins are mounted to the underside, featuring painted red, yellow, and black detailing. A single metal screw eye is positioned on the dorsal surface for attachment. The decoy is constructed of wood and metal, consistent with North American folk art fishing implements.

Condition report:
The item exhibits significant age-related wear and use. There is heavy paint crazing and cracking throughout the body. Substantial areas of paint loss are visible on the head, body, fins, and tail, exposing the underlying wood and metal surfaces. The metal pectoral fins show signs of surface oxidation.
