Description
An assortment of six antique and vintage decorative items and hardware including a model cannon, a pierced plate, a commemorative plaque, a wall hook, a hand bell, and a doorknob. The model field cannon features a brass barrel with foliate chasing, mounted on a stained oak carriage with spoked metal wheels and functional-style metal chains and fittings. The circular pierced plate is decorated with an openwork design of prunus branches and blossoms within an incised line border. The Adirondack commemorative plaque consists of an oval glass-covered sepia photograph in a metal frame with a decorative gallery and side handles; the bottom of the image is inscribed with the text The Road Leading to Old Forge, NY. Adirondack Mountains. The wall-mounted double hook is cast metal with an oval backplate featuring a relief-cast monogram W surrounded by foliate scrolls. The hand bell is composed of a polished brass body and a turned wooden handle. The doorknob is faceted clear glass with a brass shank and a steel spindle.
Measurements: The cannon barrel is approximately 7.5 inches long, and the carriage trail extends to approximately 10.5 inches in length. The pierced plate has a diameter of approximately 8 inches.
Condition report:
The brass cannon barrel shows surface oxidation and tarnishing (photo 1). The pierced plate exhibits an aged patina with scattered surface spotting (photo 2). The Adirondack plaque shows significant foxing and darkening to the internal photographic insert (photo 1). The monogrammed wall hook has a dark aged patina with surface wear consistent with age (photo 2). The hand bell is in good condition with minor surface scratches (photo 1). The faceted glass doorknob is clear and free of major chips, with tarnish to the metal shank (photo 1).
