Description
This group consists of three varied porcelain planters decorated with traditional Chinese underglaze blue motifs. The largest vessel is a globular fish bowl featuring large peony blossoms and dense foliate scrolls. The exterior rim is bordered with a band of ruyi heads, while the interior rim shows a geometric trellis pattern. This bowl rests on a dark-stained five-legged wooden stand with curved cabriole-style legs. The medium-sized planter has a deep, slightly tapered body decorated with high-contrast dark blue floral and foliate designs and a continuous scrolling vine border along the flat top rim. The smallest planter is a footed basin with a flared rim, featuring a pictorial scene of lotus flowers and aquatic plants on the exterior and a blue ruyi-head border on the interior rim. No maker’s marks, reign marks, or country of origin labels are visible on the exterior or interior surfaces. The undersides are not visible.
The fish bowl on the stand has a total height of approximately 14.5 inches. The fish bowl alone is approximately 10 inches tall with a diameter of roughly 12.5 inches at the widest point. The medium planter measures approximately 9.5 inches in height. The small planter measures approximately 7.5 inches in height.
Condition report:
The items are in good overall condition. Minor shelf wear and light staining are visible on the unglazed foot rings, most notably on the smallest planter (photo 1). No chips, cracks, or structural repairs are evident from the provided angles. The wooden stand exhibits minor surface scuffs consistent with standard use (photo 1).
