The instrument is constructed with a blackened brass body and features a cream-colored handle. It is equipped with three rotating dials, including a primary lens selection wheel with diopter powers marked in white for positive and red for negative values. The reverse of the instrument body is incised with the text MORTON’S OPHTHALMOSCOPE CURRY & PAXTON LONDON. The set is housed in its original hardshell case with a textured black exterior and a dual-tone interior lined with purple velvet and blue silk. The interior lid contains an oval gold stamp for CURRY & PAXTON. The exterior of the case is stamped with the name DR. J.E.G.F. KELLER. The lot includes the primary ophthalmoscope and one detached large condensing lens.
Condition report:
The instrument shows visible wear to the black finish on the brass body. The cream-colored handle remains intact. The rotating dials and internal chain mechanism appear functional, though they have not been tested for mechanical fluidity. The lenses are intact with some surface dust and minor oxidation present. The case exhibits moderate shelf wear, scuffing to the exterior, and minor staining to the interior silk padding.
