Description
A contemporary Pennsylvania German-style redware plate produced by C. Ned Foltz at Foltz Pottery in Reinholds, Pennsylvania. The circular earthenware plate is finished with a dark manganese-tinted glaze and features a traditional coggled or crimped rim. The central decoration depicts a large bird, possibly a dove or distelfink, surrounded by stylized floral and foliate motifs. The design is executed using yellow and green slips with incised sgraffito detailing throughout. The reverse of the plate is incised with the signature C. N. Foltz and the date 1986 above a small incised cross. A circular impressed factory stamp is located in the center, reading FOLTZ POTTERY REINHOLDS, PA. around a central bird icon.

Condition report:
This plate is in excellent condition with no visible chips, cracks, crazing, or repairs. The high-gloss glaze is well-preserved.
