Lot 174:
Description
This lot features three vintage metal collectible items. The first item is a watch fob for the Noble Order of the Elephant, featuring a gold-toned medallion attached to a black textured leather strap with a brass swivel clip. The obverse depicts an elephant in high relief with the text Stands For Strength above and Loyalty below. The reverse rim is inscribed Noble Order of the Elephant and There Are No Alps, with a central interlocking monogram NC. This item includes its original black pebbled-leatherette hinged presentation box with a white satin-lined lid and velvet base. The second item is a brass commemorative pin for the 1927 American Legion convention held in Paris, France. The keystone-shaped pin represents the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and features a central blue enameled American Legion emblem. The reverse is stamped with the manufacturer mark for The Whitehead & Hoag Co. Newark N.J. The third item is a copper-toned medallion featuring a left-facing profile of a Native American man wearing a full feathered headdress. The obverse base of the neck features the raised letters OWW. The reverse side has a distinctive hammered honeycomb texture. An integrated slotted loop is present at the top for attachment.
Condition report:
All three items are in good vintage condition consistent with age. The watch fob shows minor surface wear to the metal and leather, with light exterior scuffing on the presentation box. The American Legion pin shows age-appropriate patina and light tarnish. The Native American medallion exhibits significant surface patina and some verdigris, particularly on the textured reverse side.
