Description

A contemporary redware pottery plate by Breininger Pottery of Robesonia, Pennsylvania. The earthenware plate features a yellow slip-glazed interior hand-painted with a traditional Pennsylvania German folk art scene. The central motif is a brown pig with black spots standing in a green field. The scene is further detailed with a bucket of apples, stylized flowers, a green tree, and a post-and-rail fence under a yellow sky with stylized clouds. The exterior and base are unglazed, showing the natural reddish-brown clay body. The underside features the incised inscription Breininger Pottery, Robesonia, PA, August 1, 2000, Warm Afternoon. It is also signed in black marker Lester Breininger.

Condition report:

This item is in excellent condition with no visible chips, cracks, crazing, or repairs. There is very minor shelf wear to the unglazed foot consistent with age.
