Lot 133:
Description
A contemporary redware pottery plate produced by Denny Robertson of Breinigsville Pottery in the traditional Pennsylvania German folk art style. This circular earthenware plate features a lead-glazed yellow ground decorated with a central eight-petaled stylized floral motif. The petals alternate between solid reddish-brown and a bi-color green and yellow design, each accented with black slip-trailed wavy lines. A border of repeating green semi-circular foliate shapes with brown accents rings the interior rim. The underside is unglazed, revealing the characteristic reddish-brown clay body. The base features the handwritten number 25,- in black marker. The following characters are incised into the clay on the base: Breinigsville Pottery, Robertson, Pa, October 21, 2009, and a cursive signature denny.
Diameter: 7.75 inches.
Condition report:
The item is in excellent condition with no visible chips, cracks, or repairs. The unglazed base shows minor shelf wear and typical surface scuffing from production and handling.
