Description
This manual box-style coffee grinder is a French-made kitchen tool with a beechwood housing utilizing finger-jointed corner construction. The body is set on a dark-stained wood base and finished with a dark-stained wood top. It features a green-painted metal hopper dome and a metal crank arm with a turned wooden knob. An adhesive shield-shaped decal on the front face of the box is printed with the words MADE IN FRANCE in an arch at the top. The center of the decal contains a graphic of a lion walking on an arrow, with the name Peugeot and the word Freres in smaller script below. The metal crank arm is stamped with characters that are partially obscured by patina but read PEUGEOT FRERES. The item is complete with its original wooden drawer, which includes a turned wooden knob and a metal spring catch on the side.

Condition report:
The item shows age-appropriate wear and patina. Visible surface scratches and loss of finish are present on the wooden edges of the box, base, and top (photo 1 and photo 3). The wooden knobs exhibit darkening from handling (photo 1). The green-painted metal dome shows significant paint loss, chipping, and areas of superficial oxidation (photo 1 and photo 4). Surface rust and darkening are present on the metal crank arm and the central securing nut (photo 3). The interior of the drawer contains residual coffee grounds from previous use (photo 2). The mechanical crank rotates.
