Description
A set of ten cream-colored earthenware bowls manufactured in Belgium, featuring black transfer-printed military scenes depicting key moments from the Napoleonic Wars. Each plate displays a central illustrated reserve framed by an ornate border consisting of scrolling foliage, laurel wreaths, and the initial N surmounted by a crown. The set includes depictions of the following historical events: Mort du Marechal Lannes (22 Mai 1809), Bataille de Montereau (18 Fevrier 1814), Bataille de Wagram (6 Juillet 1809), Entree a Berlin (27 Octobre 1806), Bataille d Austerlitz (2 Decembre 1805), Entretien des deux Empereurs a Tilsitt (25 Juin 1807), Bataille de Lutzen (2 Mai 1813), Bataille d Iena (14 Octobre 1806), Bataille de la Moskowa (7 Septembre 1812), and Adieux de Fontainebleau (20 Avril 1814). The base of each bowl features a printed black circular mark reading MADE IN BELGIUM at the top, BOCH Fs in the center, and LA LOUVIERE at the bottom. The phrase FABRICATION BELGE is printed directly below this circular mark. The transfer-printed borders and central scenes show variations in ink density and alignment, consistent with the production methods of the period.

Condition report:
The set is in overall good condition with no visible chips, cracks, or restorations to the front or back surfaces (Photos 1, 3, and 4). Minor firing marks, known as stilt marks, are visible on the underside of the plates from the kiln furniture used during production (Photos 3 and 4). The black transfer-printed decoration remains largely intact with no significant loss of pigment or surface scratching.
