Description

A Taiwanese-made vitrine or display table produced for The Bombay Company. The table is constructed from dark-stained hardwood with a mahogany-style finish, supported by four square tapered legs. The rectangular top consists of a wooden frame with a central inset glass panel that opens to reveal a display compartment with glass side panels and a dark green velvet-lined interior floor. The underside of the interior floor features several adhesive labels. A gold foil label reads The Bombay Company, U.S.A. & CANADA, MADE IN TAIWAN. A white oval label is printed with INSPECTED 1986.5. A white rectangular law label states UNDER PENALTY OF LAW THIS TAG NOT TO BE REMOVED EXCEPT BY THE CONSUMER, ALL NEW MATERIAL CONSISTING OF, FABRIC 100% COTTON, FILLING 70% POLYESTER 30% TOLUENE, REG. NO. VA. 6826 (TEXAS), and IMPORTED FROM TAIWAN FOR THE BOMBAY CO.

Condition report:

The table is in good structural condition but shows visible signs of wear and age. The light-colored fabric covering the underside of the display compartment has significant large brown water stains (photo 4). There are minor surface scuffs and light scratches to the wood finish on the legs and frame (photos 1, 2). Visible dust accumulation is present on both the glass and wooden surfaces (photos 1, 3).
