Description
A cast metal sculpture finished with a dark bronze-toned patina, depicting a young peasant woman or gleaner. The figure is posed shielding her eyes with her right hand while carrying a bundle of wheat in her left hand. She is dressed in traditional country attire, including a bodice and a headscarf. The sculpture is fixed to an integral naturalistic base, which is mounted on a circular, stepped wooden plinth. No signatures, maker marks, or foundry stamps are visible on the metal surface or the wooden mounting.

Condition report:
A significant vertical split is present in the wooden base, extending from the top edge through to the bottom (photo 2, 3, and 4). There is visible rubbing and loss to the bronze-colored patina, particularly on the front of the figure bodice and skirt, revealing the light gray base metal underneath (photo 1 and 5). Minor surface oxidation and pitting are scattered across the cast surface (photo 2).
