Description
This American glass apothecary shelf bottle is constructed from clear mold-blown glass with a rectangular footprint and rounded shoulders. It features a recessed glass-covered apothecary label, reverse-painted with black lettering on a cream-colored ground reading SP.ÆTH.NIT. The label is decorated with geometric sunburst motifs in the corners and bordered by thin gold and red lines. The bottle is fitted with its original ground-glass stopper, which has a flat, disc-shaped finial. The base of the bottle bears embossed marks including W. T. & CO. in an upper arc, U. S. A. in a lower arc, and PAT. JAN. 5. 1892 in the center, identifying the maker as Whitall Tatum and Company. Slight chip on top rim.

Condition report:
The bottle is in very good antique condition. The glass body is clear, with a small area of faint white cloudy residue on the interior base (photo 1). The stopper fits securely and has no major chips. The recessed label is well-preserved with some minor yellowing due to age and light wear to the gilded borders (photo 1). A small purple ink mark is visible on the outer rim of the glass neck (photo 5).
