Description
A pair of clear glass apothecary shelf bottles of square form, each fitted with a ground glass stopper. The bottles feature recessed paper labels with gold and red borders and black block lettering. One bottle is labeled GENTIAN. P. and the other KALI IODID. The base of each bottle bears an embossed mark reading W. T. CO. in the top arc, PAT. JAN. 5. 1892 in the center, and U. S. A. in the bottom arc, identifying them as products of the Whitall Tatum Company. May or may not have chips and cracks.
Height to top of stopper: 8 inches
Base width: 2.5 inches.
Condition report:
The glass remains clear with no visible chips or cracks. The ground glass stoppers are present and appear original to the bottles. The paper labels show age-related yellowing and surface wear; specifically, the KALI IODID. label has a dark smudge and minor loss of print over the first I in the word IODID (photo 1).
