Sterling Silver, Antique Flintlock Shotgun, Collectibles Estate Sale Auction
Lot 4:
Description
A square ironstone bowl featuring four flared, pointed corners and an undulating, scalloped rim. The piece is decorated throughout the interior and exterior using a cobalt blue transfer-printing technique. The pattern depicts various pastoral and architectural vignettes, including grand estates, figures on horseback, and mature trees. A thin cobalt line follows the edge of the rim. The base of the bowl is marked with a blue transfer-printed crest featuring a lion and a unicorn supporting a central shield topped with a crown. A ribbon below the crest contains the text VICTORIA WARE, with the word IRONSTONE printed directly underneath. A small, stray blue ink spot is visible on the underside near the maker mark.
Condition report:
The bowl is in good condition with no visible chips, cracks, or repairs. There is minor darkening and light shelf wear consistent with use on the unglazed foot rim as seen in photos 5 and 6. A small production-related blue ink transfer spot is present on the base (photo 6).
