Description
A pair of clear glass apothecary shelf bottles of square form with rounded corners and sloping shoulders. The bottles feature wide necks with ground interiors and matching mushroom-style ground glass stoppers. Each bottle is fitted with an under-glass label consisting of printed paper under a curved glass shield. The labels are decorated with a green and gold geometric border and stylized corner motifs. One label is printed with IPECAC. P. and the second is printed with AMM. BROM. The underside of each bottle is embossed with the mark W. T. & CO. arranged in an arc above U. S. A., identifying the manufacturer as Whitall Tatum and Company of Millville, New Jersey. May or may not have chips or cracks.
Measured across the base, the bottles are 2.125 inches wide.
The total height including the stopper is 6.75 inches.
Condition report:
The glass bodies and necks are in excellent condition with no visible chips, cracks, or internal clouding (photos 1, 2, and 3). Both under-glass labels are intact and firmly attached; the IPECAC. P. label shows minor oxidation and darkening along the bottom gold border (photo 1). The ground glass stoppers show typical light mating wear; the stopper for the IPECAC. P. bottle has a small chip on the bottom edge of the ground plug (photo 3).
